The Hotel IVORY PLAYA is a family firm that was incorporated as TUEX S.A. in 1987; it does not belong to a chain.
The chief objective was to construct and run a hotel establishment, which stands out for prestige and social commitment. Since the time it was inaugurated the hotel management, currently with company president Joan Morro and commercial director Karsten Imm, has relied on personal involvement. To this day the greatest importance is to cater to every detail with the consistent involvement and commitment of the staff.
TUEX, S.A. is characterised by its efforts to enhance its employees’ and collaborators’ skills and provides on-going training and recycling for its permanent staff, including training programmes for young students from other countries at our facilities through an agreement with European universities. Integrated in the corporate policy are a concept of equality (PIO), the integration of working and private life and an internal system of social accountability (RSC) are integrated. Just a few examples:
Charity Football Tournament for the benefit of the Red Cross
Economic support of sporting events
Annual Christmas market in support of the organization Dentist on wheels (Dentistas sobre ruedas) and the Alcudia Solidaria
Support of local artists: organization of exhibitions and the acquisition of paintings and photographs to decorate the hotel.
As well part of the corporate culture: donations and cooperation with NGOs such as MEDICUS MUNDI, APOYO SOLIDARIO, FUNDACIÓN VICENTE FERRER, HURTAPLAS, AMIGOS DE LA TIERRA, FUNDACIÓN VIDA SILVESTRE and the RED CROSS each year.
IVORY PLAYA is a member of the CONSORCI DE PROMOCIÓ EXTERIOR D’ALCÚDIA, a pioneer initiative created in January 2004 in the Balearics to reorient and expand recent tourism policies for Majorca’s northern zone and spearhead its promotion by combining the hotel sector and public administration’s economic and human capital and know-how.

Today our policy focuses on palliating the seasonality so closely associated with our zone’s service sector, which involves capturing new segments such as sports to achieve high occupancy rates in low season and encourage the employment of more personnel for longer periods than the customary six-month season.
What differentiate us from the zone’s other hotels? IVORY PLAYA’s special, unique character stems from its owners’ direct involvement in managing the hotel; they experience the organization’s needs first-hand and invest in ongoing improvements in infrastructure, equipment and facilities to ensure the firm’s constant renovation and maintain the same spirit of continuous improvement and search for Total Quality.
This is not merely a question of how many stars the hotel boasts, but also its attention to guests, staff and details and listening to suggestions from both guests and employees without underestimating the importance they merit as a part of continuous improvement.
Ivory Playa is concerned about the environment, dedicated and committed to taking care of and preserving our natural resources. This has been recognized several times in recent years by the community of Alcudia with the award DISTINTIVO ECOTURISTICO. 1999 the hotel was first awarded for its environmental management by the Chamber of Commerce of the Balearic Islands from Alcudia Town Hall. Furthermore, the hotel implanted with remarkable success the environmental management system EMAS (www.emas.org.uk) and as well ISO 14.001: 2000. Regarding Quality management the hotel was 1999 one of the first hotels in the north of the island, which was awarded the Q of the Spanish tourism institute (ICTE). Since 2009 the hotel is certified at international level with the quality management standard ISO 9001: 2008, which has been re-recognized every year.
Other management systems complement the voluntary guidelines for quality and environmental protection. In our daily work we integrate the protection of personal data, the maximum controls on food hygiene, the prevention of risks related to the workplace, equal opportunities and corporate social responsibility.
